Position Summary
BOXER, Inc. is seeking youth and adult volunteers to support the Van Dyke Houses Boxing Community Center. Volunteers should have a genuine desire to serve the community, support youth and families, and contribute to a safe, respectful, and mission-driven environment.
This opportunity is ideal for dependable, community-minded individuals who align with BOXER, Inc.’s mission to use boxing, fitness, mentorship, and youth development to help participants build confidence, discipline, resilience, and positive life skills.
Volunteer Responsibilities

Welcome and assist participants, families, visitors, and community members.

Support staff during programs, workshops, events, outreach activities, and community initiatives.

Assist with setup, breakdown, organizing materials, participant flow, and general program support.

Help maintain a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming Center environment.

Serve as a positive role model for youth and community members.

Follow BOXER, Inc. policies, Center rules, confidentiality expectations, and safety procedures.

Promptly report questions, concerns, incidents, or participant needs to BOXER, Inc. staff.
Qualifications

Must be at least 16 years old.

Desire to work with and support the Brownsville community.

Alignment with BOXER, Inc.’s mission, values, and community-centered approach.

Respectful, dependable, and professional attitude.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work positively with youth, adults, families, staff, and community members.

Willingness to follow instructions and work under staff supervision.
Schedule / Requirements
Volunteer schedules will be based on program needs, Center operating hours, and volunteer availability. Evening and weekend opportunities may be available. Volunteers may be required to complete orientation, review Center policies, and provide any required consent, training, or documentation before beginning service. Parent or guardian consent may be required for volunteers under 18.
