Programs

BOXER, Inc. is a youth-focused nonprofit that uses the sport of boxing as a powerful tool to support social-emotional learning, physical fitness, and academic success. Serving children and young people ages 8 to 18+, our programs combine recreational activities with structured boxing and general fitness training.

Through boxing, we create a safe, supportive, and empowering environment where youth can channel their emotions in healthy, positive ways. We believe that just as physical health requires training and practice, mental and emotional wellness must be strengthened the same way—through consistency, discipline, and intentional growth.

Our program provides young people with access to high-quality coaching and mentorship, helping them overcome personal challenges both inside and outside the gym. Grounded in the core values of boxing—perseverance, self-control, discipline, and respect—participants learn essential techniques such as stance, guard, footwork, movement, and combinations from experienced coaches.

More than just a workout, BOXER, Inc. is a place where youth build confidence, resilience, and a strong work ethic—all while having fun, staying active, and discovering their inner strength.

WHAT WE DO

BOXER, Inc. is a youth-focused recreational and educational organization serving children across New York City through safe, non-contact boxing fitness programs. Operating during and after school hours, BOXER, Inc. provides structured, supervised physical activity that promotes health, discipline, and confidence.

In addition to fitness training, BOXER, Inc. offers mentoring and educational support designed to empower young people with positive skills, role models, and resources. By creating a supportive and engaging environment, the organization helps at-risk youth build resilience, make healthy choices, and stay positively connected to their communities.

Dedication and Service

It’s incredible how a single idea can grow into something truly impactful. BOXER, Inc. was founded on the belief that we all share a responsibility to uplift our communities and invest in the next generation. Powered by dedicated volunteers and active community projects, we channel our skills and resources to create real, lasting change.

Our mission is to cultivate the promise and potential of future leaders by encouraging healthier lifestyles rooted in physical fitness, nutritious eating, discipline, and smart decision-making—helping young people become champions both in and out of the ring.

At its core, BOXER, Inc. operates as a supervised recreational and after-school program for New York City youth, blending structured physical activity with mentorship, education, and personal development. Research consistently shows the power of after-school programs: a 2014 Research Works survey found that 81% of participating youth became more interested in school, while 87% reported that these programs helped keep them out of trouble. Yet in New York State, nearly 20% of K–12 students are left to care for themselves after school.

BOXER, Inc. is a vital solution to this gap. According to the Afterschool Alliance, nearly half of New York City youth who are not currently enrolled in an after-school program would participate if one were available in their community. While free neighborhood recreation centers were once common in the 1970s and 1980s, many have since closed or transitioned into costly, for-profit facilities—placing them out of reach for many families. BOXER, Inc. proudly provides free, high-quality recreational programming for NYC youth who might otherwise lack access.

Most importantly, our programming offers a safe, constructive outlet for young people during critical after-school hours. By replacing idle time with structured activity, mentorship, and positive role models, BOXER, Inc. helps ensure that youth are supported, supervised, and empowered to thrive.

What We Believe In

It’s easy to fall into apathy as we move through life, but real change happens when we choose to confront society’s challenges head-on. BOXER, Inc. was born from a commitment to stop overlooking the issues that matter most and to take meaningful action where it’s needed.

We exist to serve and uplift youth by creating opportunities that inspire growth, resilience, and purpose. At BOXER, Inc., we believe change is possible when passion meets intention—and when hearts and minds work together.

Our mission is to use the sport of boxing as a powerful tool to provide a safe, structured, and productive environment where youth can build confidence, develop discipline, strengthen self-esteem, and adopt healthy lifestyles. Through our programming, participants also enhance focus and cognitive skills that support academic success—preparing them not just for the ring, but for life.
